Bayern Munich could be facing a crisis before the transfer window ends, after the Sunday Express exclusively revealed that Manchester United and Arsenal are trying to secure deals for two of their brightest stars.
Both Thomas Muller and Mario Goetze are being lined up by two of the Premier League's biggest heavyweights in a bid to strengthen their ranks and improve their title credentials for the new season.
wow!!!!
Manchester United's pursuit of Muller has been going on for a number of weeks now, with Louis van Gaal desperate to bring in a player he used to manage when he was at the helm of the Bavarian side.
It has been reported that the Red Devils have already had two bids turned away by Bayern for the 25-year-old forward, but they will continue to test the Bundesliga champions' resolve. An improved offer in excess of £60m could be given the green light by United chiefs as Van Gaal looks to bring another goalscorer to the squad.
Muller, who scored twice in Bayern's opening game of the new Bundesliga season, is thought to be keen on a move to Old Trafford, having just seen long term team-mate for both club and country Bastian Schweinsteiger make the journey over the summer.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are thought to be mulling over a potential deal for unsettled Bayern star Mario Goetze, who's place at the Allianz Arena has come under great scrutiny of late.
The World Cup hero for Germany is not a starting player in Pep Guardiola's first team at Bayern and this has led to intense rumours that the young midfielder could be on his way out of the club, having only signed two years ago from rivals Borussia Dortmund.
It seems unlikely that Bayern would sell both players and chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has already stated the club's position in regards to Muller, "The Bundesliga has to be careful not to fall further behind. We would be out of our minds to sell Muller".
