MONDAYS - HOW TO LOVE & FACE MONDAYS

Mondays are rough. The weekend is over. It’s back to the world of responsibility and deadlines. Generally, I find myself burying my head in the pillows and trying to sleep in as long as humanly possible without being late. That’s my normal game plan. Apparently, I’m going about it all wrong.

To actually be productive before noon on the first day of the work week, it’s helpful to wake up early and attack the day. Setting your alarm for 15 minutes earlier gives you time to readjust to the early morning routine, after a couple days of lounging in bed until the time felt right. It might give you the extra minute it needs to cook a warm breakfast, which will do wonders for your early morning mood.

In fact, there are couple of ways for you to beat the Monday blues. From planning that you can do on Sunday night to what projects you should attack right when you get to work, it’s possible that your Mondays don’t have to be quite so manic. Here’s a few tips to beginning your work week at the top of your game.

Have Some “Me Time” On Sunday Night
Weekends are supposed to be relaxing, but we often fill them with social activities and family commitments. Try to save Sunday night for a little personal time to relax and collect yourself before a new week begins.

Get Good Rest
I’m horrible about going to bed on time Sunday night. It might have to do with Sunday Night Football, but it’s really just a personal issue. I guess I’m trying to prolong my weekend as much as possible. But the best way to start a Monday is with plenty of rest.

Make A To-Do List
Lay out the assignments that you’re going to work on that week. If you have goals in mind, you won’t sit around your desk at 8am saying, “What do I want to work on now…” With a prioritized list, you’ll feel more prepared for the upcoming week.

Plan Out Your Outfits
Apart from your outfits, you should plan out your lunch and next day’s activities… Having the little things written out will let you focus on waking up and attacking that list you made. Oh, and you’ll probably make better decisions on Sunday night than you will on a groggy and bleary-eyed Monday morning.

Fit In A Morning Work-Out
Not an option for everyone, but a Monday morning is the perfect time to hit the gym or even better, get outdoors. You’ll feel energized and focused and ready to take on your day.

First, Tackle A Task That You Love
Plan your favorite weekly task for first thing Monday morning. If you have to start with a project that you hate, you’re going to dread Monday even more. Try to begin with something that you can look forward to.

Drink A Cup Of Coffee
Caffeine every morning might not be the best habit ever, but Monday morning is the perfect time to indulge yourself in a little extra boost.

Have One Project That You Can Complete Monday
Almost better than working on your favorite project, completing a project. Having just one line that you can cross off that to-do list will make the entire day feel productive.
