IWOBI GETS £10K PER WEEK IN ARSENAL NEW DEAL AS WENGER INCREASES PAY FROM £800

Arsenal Coach Wenger instructed Arsenal football club to hold down Nigerian young starlet Alex Iwobi to a new deal that will ensure his future at the club is settled amidst admiration from some top premier league clubs.

Iwobi, Jay Jay Okocha's nephew, has had a blistering start since he joined the Arsenal first team and recently capped a brilliant performance against Barcelona in the champions league with a goal against Everton in the premier league.

Which has lead his club to offer him a new deal that will see his pay increase from £800 per week to £10,000 per week with bonuses.
Iwobi only signed a five-year deal in October, but his rapid progression and growth this season has pushed him into boss Arsene Wenger’s first team plans. He is currently with the Super Eagles of Nigeria and could play a massive role in today's AFCON qualifier against Egypt.

EMENIKE'S QUIT SHOCKED US - OLISEH, PINNICK

Super Eagles coach Sunday Ogochukwu Oliseh has expressed shock over Emmanuel Emenike’s abrupt resignation from the Super Eagles.

Emenike, 28, who plays for Al Ain of Dubai towed the line of goalkeeper.

Vincent Enyeama by calling time on his career through instagram, a development that shocked Eagles coach Oliseh and President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Melvin Amaju Pinnick.

‘’It’s a big surprise and shock to all of us to hear of his resignation’’, Oliseh who is tinkering the home Eagles for the return leg match of the CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso in Ouagadougou next week said. Oliseh had guided the Eagles to whip the Etalons of Burkina Faso 2-0 in the first leg played at Port Harcourt.

Insinuations that Oliseh might drop the player from the Eagles squad for next month’s  World Cup qualifier against Swaziland because he has not scored for the Eagles for two years was dismissed by the coach.

‘’Eh, Come on! You know me better than that. There is no water to that story and it did not emanate from me. I’ve not spoken to anybody(Journalist) concerning the team. I was surprised when I read the story attributed to me. Immediately, I called him but he did not pick his call and the Team’s scribe Dayo Enebi Acho also called him without success.

I’m shocked and surprised. We had no issues and he had played four times since I took over the team. He’s a great player’’, Oliseh noted.

He was not the only person shocked to hear about Emenike’s resignation on instagram. NFF President Amaju said that he was ‘’utterly flabbergasted by the resignation of Emenike. ‘’We(NFF) have not been contacted officially but I’m shocked because Emenike has been a major factor of success for the team.
Players have the right to quit but I think that they should do it in a civil manner.

Asked if it was not one resignation too many  since Oliseh took over the team, Amaju exonerated the coach. ‘’Oliseh did not speak to anybody concerning dropping any player. He understands the dynamics of coaching.

This is one of the reasons why we have to implement the code of conduct. Things should be done the right way. But, we have absolute confidence in Oliseh. He is in charge and determines players to be invited’’, Amaju emphasised.

REVEALED : HOW MIKEL OBI REJECTED BEING EAGLES VICE CAPTAIN

Vanguard reveals that Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel turned down the opportunity to be vice -captain of the Super Eagles before the vacant position was handed to Eddy Onazi and Kenneth Omeruo.

This was aptly demonstrated during the friendly against Congo when Mikel openly rejected the captain’s band after Ahmed Musa made an attempt to pass it on to him when he (Musa) was substituted.

And contrary to speculations in the media that suggested the Chelsea midfielder would not honour future call-ups after he was overlooked for the captain’s armband which was given to Ahmed Musa, Mikel’s rep has insisted that his client has taken the decision of Sunday Oliseh in good faith and is available for selection for the World Cup qualifiers.

“Sunday Oliseh wanted Mikel to be vice – captain, since he has already given Musa the captain’s armband,” one of Mikel’s rep toldallnigeriasoccer.com.

“He only wants to be playing and is not interested in being an assistant captain. Whenever they invite him, he will come.

“I think he was not chosen as captain because he missed the game in Tanzania but Oliseh was impressed with his performance in the friendlies against DRC and Cameroon.” Obi Mikel is the most experienced player currently in the Super Eagles fold, having made his debut in 2005, five years before Ahmed Musa made his competitive debut for the national team.

He made a good decision please.

CHELSEA TO SACK MOURINHO & REPLACE HIM WITH DIEGO SIMEONE

Mourinho
Diego

The Blues have picked up just eight points from their opening eight Premier League fixtures and have already lost more matches this term than they did throughout their title-winning campaign in 2014/2015.

Mourinho went on a seven-minute rant after the Blues’ 3-1 defeat to Southampton last week in which he told the club’s owners they would be getting rid of the club’s greatest ever manager if they decided to sack him.

However, the Daily Mirror say that the club are considering parting with the former Real Madrid coach and that Simeone has a £15million buy-out clause in his contract with the La Liga giants.

NFF AGREE ON TESTIMONIAL FOR EMBATTLED SUPER EAGLES KEEPER, ENYEAMA

The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has said a testimonial will be organised for Lille goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, saying he deserves “an honourable exit” from the Super Eagles.

Enyeama returned to Belgium on Saturday to meet with Pinnick, NFF 1st Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi and 2nd Vice President, Shehu Dikko, africanFootball.com reports.

Pinnick told Enyeama in clear terms that the country is bigger than any individual, and that even if he was determined to quit international football, he should not do so in a situation of acrimony.

“I told him that he did so well for Nigeria over the past 13-and-half years that he had been there, and by all means, is deserving of a honourable exit,” Pinnick told africanFootball.com.

“Whatever the situation, whether he decides to return to the team or not, the NFF will organise a worthy testimonial match in his honour because he served the nation so well.

“However, the head coach is in full charge of the team and the camp at all times, and that fact must be respected. The NFF will support and respect the decision of the head coach of any of the national teams at all times.

“Both Oliseh and Enyeama are true heroes of Nigeria football, if you look at what they achieved at different times. But Oliseh is head coach now and in charge of the team. We will continue to respect his contract, our role as a federation is advisory.”

Pinnick further hinted that a code of conduct for players and officials of the various national teams will soon come into force.

ALL IS WELL, ENYEAMA IS BACK TO THE TEAM - PINNICK

Super Eagles  keeper and captain, Vincent Enyeama, who Thursday, October 8 announced his retirement from the team has agreed to return back to the team following series of meetings with NFF officials yesterday.

Enyeama’s decision to return was taken yesterday in Belgium after a three- hour meeting with the president of Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick.

Pinnick told Sunday Sunsports exclusively after the meeting ...

“I had a very fruitful meeting with Enyeama. Our meeting lasted for three hours and I must tell you that all is well now. Enyeama will return after the game against Cameroon tomorrow (today). He spoke with Oliseh on phone after our meeting. He (Enyeama) is not in camp at the moment but he is likely going to watch the match against Cameroon from the stands,” Pinnick disclosed.

Enyeama decided to quit the Eagles over Oliseh’s decision to strip him of the skipper’s band. The new Eagles gaffer has since named Ahmed Musa new captain of the team with Ogenyi Onazi as vice captain.

Enyeama Returns to Eagles Camp in Belgium

It appears the latest gist on the Sunday Oliseh and Vincent Enyeama bust-up becomes a good news, as the Lille goalkeeper is expected to return to the Super Eagles training camp in Belgium on Saturday.

Enyeama is expected to meet with top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The former first-choice goalkeeper and captain announced his retirement from international football, after falling out with Oliseh.

However, NFF president Amaju Pinnick, as well as his two vice-presidents, Seyi Akinwunmi and Shehu Dikko, are eager to salvage the situation and will meet with Enyeama in Belgium.

It remains to be seen if Enyeama, who is currently the player with the highest number of caps for Nigeria (101), will be persuaded to return to the national team under Oliseh.

FIFA Suspends Sepp Blatter for 90 Days

FIFA ethics committee has suspended its president Sepp Blatter for 90 days. Head of the committee,  Klaus Stoehlker, who has advised Blatter in the past, says the committee made the ruling pending further investigations by the Swiss attorney general following accusations of corruption.

He described it as a "pending" verdict, and said no negative finding had been made against the head of world football's governing body.

The announcement comes just hours after Blatter criticized the criminal investigation against him in Switzerland, describing it as "outrageous".He also defended his decision to remain as head of the football organising body and not step down immediately, as worldwide sponsors have urged.

The 90-day suspension is the longest FIFA's ethics committee can hand down while they carry out their investigation.

Last month, the Swiss attorney general announced that Blatter will face charges of "criminal mismanagement" and "misappropriation."Among the charges is an allegation that Blatter gave a "disloyal payment" to UEFA president Michel Platini totaling 2 million francs ($2.1 million). That payment is alleged to have been made three months before Platini announced he would not run against Blather in the 2011 FIFA presidential election.

Bayern Munich have once again reiterated their stance, that forward Thomas Muller is not for sale.

The Bundesliga champions also warned Manchester United, to stop making enquiries on the Germany international, as they were not willing to let go.

Muller was heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford last summer, with United ready to break the bank to land him.

Speaking after their 5-1 win over Borussia Dortmund, in which Muller scored twice, Bayern CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told the Premier League club to stay away.

“I am not a banker. We are a football club,” Rummenigge is quoted by Sport1.

“That is why we never even considered selling Thomas Muller.

“I told my colleagues at Manchester United: ‘I cannot close down my email account, but you no longer need to send me anything. It is useless.'”
